Plantronics BackBeat GO 3 Review | In-Ear Headphone

Our very first Plantronics, that has a premium look thanks to its grey tone with the plastic finish that looks like wood.  It has this nano-coating that makes it water-resistant and sweatproof (since its aim towards sports as well). Cable is 60cm long, untangle easily and I wish it came with cable management like Jaybird’s as short cable length would be good for sports/workout (the video explains in detail). It weighs 19 grams.

It comes with 2 additional size earbuds but its semi-proprietary type so not all 3rd party eartips can fit. I wished it supported Comply eartips. If you purchase with the charging pouch option it can give you up to additional 13 hours. However that would set you back 100 USD, without the pouch it is 80 USD.

Rated to last 6.5 hours listening time we manage to get it at 6 hours with 5 volume bar on iPhone 6. What I like about this IEM is in idle mode press any button it will tell you how much estimated battery life is left. It has a wireless range of 10 meters. Sound isolation is good, made me fall asleep well. Fits well into the eat and thanks to the loop, give double support, aggressively head movement no way the IEM can pop up.

There is a app but is more for tutorials, to help switch to another bluetooth device, update the firmware and tell you the battery life.

Now for audio quality test, my setup consist of the Iphone 6 with Cozoy TAKT AMP DAC and  Zenfone 3 Zoom.

POP/EDM:
Pia Mia – Do It Again
Bass is energetic, well bodied and fade well smoothly that you can hear the subtle vibration. Bass doesn’t eat into the vocals.

Tiaan – Be Ok
Low frequency bass is overpowered there is tiny bit distortion which had to lower the volume to 2nd bar from the 5th.

Vocal/Instrumental:
Ed Sheeran – Touch and Go
Guitar is decent, lack shine or the sharp sound, feels little muted as guitar chord ended quickly.
Vocals is decent but does lack shine in the upper mid onwards tho vocal dragging/humming is good.

The XX – Intro
Guitar does not shine much, feels muffled. Snare is pushed back a lot.

Pentatonix – See Through
Vocal group humming is eargasm. Mitch grassi hi pitch vocal did not shine well. Vocal clarity could be improved throughout the range.

Perform well from lower mid to mid range again this a portable IEMs for sport and commute. Normal pop and bassy song would do good. Plantronics need to improve the audio quality to compete with other brands in term of clarity (mid-uppermid range).
