Aorus RGB Memory Review | 16GB 3200Mhz RGB RAM + Benchmark
Aorus first entry to the RAM/Memory market, do or die gotta get it right. The unique part about this kit is the inclusion of 2 dummy RGB stick (total of 4 sticks) that fills up the void of a typical 2 slot RAM setups. Let’s be honest it just looks good and you don’t have to fill it up to 32GB to have the same lighting look. It cost less with the Aorus method and other companies are starting to notice and follow this somewhat new trend. The RGB Dummy module only has pin to power the RGB LEDs.
Looking at the physical appearance of the RAM which is housed in all brushed-aluminum heat cover that should help with heat management tho good air flow is also needed (like any other RAMs). Yes it is actual chunky thick solid metal heat cover, there is real weight to them. The brightness is good even tho the others brands can be much brighter. On the bright side (saw that pun there?) the Aorus has the higher saturated LED colours compared the other RAMs in the market, thus you see more vibrant colour glow instead of the whitish glow.

My setup is based on the Ryzen 1700X overclock to 3.8Ghz on the Aorus B450 Pro motherboard. I did benchmark with its standard timing based on the 3200Mhz XMP profile at 16-18-18-38 1.35v and slightly faster timing of 16-17-17-34 1.35V. We did see some improvement and is stable for 4K Adobe Premiere editing and rendering as well as Media Encoder Transcoding shaving extra 30 sec to 1 minute +. The furthest I gotten to was 15-16-16-34 1.35V, it did pass memtest 30 loops but I have yet to stress test AIDA64 for 24 hours. I think is will be fine since I since using it till today.
It uses Samsung B-dies which is known to be the best memory modules and stable for overlocking and dropping the timing lower without Thanos level crashes. The motherboard I’m using limits me to 3200mhz, so with better Intel Z or AMD X based motherboard you can overclock to 3400mhz easily a bit with higher timing. You do need the latest RGB Fusion software to RGB-bend the lighting effect (Avatar reference, I know bad pun). Good thing is that Aorus when straight up to make a good 16GB RAM Kit using Samsung parts that creates good impression and brand confidence for a new entry in the RAM market share. Not many RAMs can be tune for lower timings. Their next step is to make a higher speed RAM (since Ryzen high end system does benefit from it) and allow great customization of the lighting effect; from individual LED or to each of the 4 stick. Currently the lighting effect is just a basic global adjustment (4 Stick 1 Lighting style).
